The Boat
A catamaran is a flat on the water, a home sweet home under sail, with the finest garden in the world and never the same view twice — not to mention the infinity pool in every shade of blue. Our mount, Milo-One, is a Catana 582 catamaran, 19 m long. She is first of all our home, our safety at sea and, more than that, our faithful crew member. The one without whom none of this would be possible.
She is equipped for a voyage around the world in complete self-sufficiency: water production, electricity production, and all the gear our safety requires.
A catamaran also means stability, and the pleasure of sailing flat — no heel, no roll. She is roomy, and combines comfort, reliability and performance. At anchor she gives us the joy and the calm of lying in the wildest coves, often out of reach for keelboats. She is by turns the pleasure of surfing down the swell in the trade winds, off the wind, and the reliability and sheer strength of long self-sufficient passages, cutting through the water whatever comes. Our boat is a matter of trust.
Living space: Milo One’s accommodation is very roomy, with a 360° view of the world. Opening straight onto the cockpit, it is the heart of life aboard, with an open-plan galley where all that remains is to enjoy the meal with a view of the sea.
As for the hulls: everything is designed for rest, quiet and comfort. Each cabin is light and well ventilated, and the heads are practical, with built-in showers.
Layout and specifications
Milo One — complete independence. The chart table carries every modern electronic navigation instrument. Power aboard comes from 700 amps at 24 volts, solar panels and the generator. Pressurised fresh water is supplied by two independent electric pressure units and two watermakers, with charcoal filter, ceramic filter and remineralising cartridges. Hot water comes from two independent water heaters. Refrigeration: two fridges, a freezer — and the ice maker, for ice cubes.
Complete self-sufficiency, which lets us sail safely well away from the tourist trail and enjoy each anchorage for what it is, without a thought for tomorrow.
